 Aim of the website

Bournemouth University is responsible for the Personal Development Planning learning area and is working collaboratively with a number of partners including Exeter University.

At Bournemouth University we are working with our staff, students and Bournemouth University Student Union to:

  • Provide a thorough induction into the meaning and benefits of engaging with PDP and the opportunities offered for PDP at Bournemouth University

  • Provide opportunities to engage with PDP at each stage of our programmes within and outside the curriculum

  • Provide support and guidance for students to undertake the PDP process taking advantage of the range of resources available to them, including the PDP website

With our partners we aim to develop a research base that investigates

  • If, and how, engagement with PDP leads to academic, personal and professional success

  • How institutions can encourage students to engage with PDP

  • How staff can be persuaded that PDP is of benefit to their students

Alongside the research and evaluation process we aim to work with practitioners within the UK academic community and disseminate resources and research in this dynamic and fast developing area of student experience.

The Aim of this Website is:

To provide information about PDP from a range of approaches.  First of all, there are links to organisations that provide resources and support in this key learning area.  Secondly, we aim to demonstrate how PDP resources developed for staff and students by practitioners in different disciplines and different subject areas have common and transferable themes and applications.  Thirdly, we aim to demonstrate approaches to engaging students from the beginning of their university career, and, look at emerging ways in which PDP may address the needs of students with additional learning needs, as well as feature interesting work developing PDP and creativity.   Finally, we will provide information about current research taking place in PDP.  Go to the top of the page
