An Introduction to Time Management for University Students

Girl juggling scarvesJuggling multiple study commitments at university isn't easy. Add in other activities like paid work and societies, as well as finding time for fitness, friends, family and fun, and you can see why most students will have problems with managing their time at some point.

The bad news is that no-one is born with great time management skills. The good news - that means anyone can learn them!

How this website can help you

This website contains advice on effective time management, tailored specifically to university students. The 5 Minute Guide offers a quick summary of useful strategies, and links to more detailed advice on the other pages. Each of these pages includes suggestions and activities to help you develop more effective time management practices.

Everyone works differently, and not all suggestions will work for all students. But they will help you to think about the problems that arise with time management at university, and what can be done to make your use of study time more effective.

How you can help us

These resources and advice on time management were developed for LearnHigher by the Study Advice team at University of Reading. We hope this website will continue to develop organically as we receive input from the students, academic staff and learning development colleagues who access these pages. If there is something you had hoped to find, or you find a broken link, or have any comments on these pages, or would like to suggest a resource to share, please  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
