Questioning skills

Using effective questioning techniques can help build social relationships and provide understanding in learning or work situations.

There are many ways that questions can be used to show active listening. Clever use of open and closed questions provides the opportunity to find out more from the speaker and allows the development of conversation. It is especially useful when you think you’re going to run out of things to say!  Effective questioning techniques are frequently used by the caring professions to demonstrate empathy and understanding and this can be equally important within educational, social or domestic situations
